4.11 Tree and Shade Canopy

  1. Current Trend:
    Canopy cover showed minimal growth from 13.4% in 2017 to 13.6% in 2020 and 2021.
    However, there was a significant decline in canopy cover to 11.4% in 2022, indicating a loss of tree cover during that year.
  2. 2040 Target:
    The target for canopy cover is set at 25% by 2040, which is more than double the 2022 value.
    Given the decline in 2022, achieving this goal will require substantial efforts to reverse the downward trend and significantly increase the canopy cover.
