The survey results show a generally positive trend in employee satisfaction over the years, though some areas still require improvement.

Key Insights

  1. Advancement & Promotion:
    Agreement on fair consideration for advancement increased slightly from 46.2% in 2016 to 50% in 2020, but dipped to 47.6% in 2022.
  2. Mentorship:
    The percentage of employees feeling they were mentored at work rose from 47.6% in 2016 to 54.5% in 2020, then slightly decreased to 52.9% in 2022.
  3. Professional Development:
    Perception of the usefulness of professional development programs varied, with a slight dip from 38.7% in 2016 to 36.6% in 2018, before rising to 45.3% in 2022.
  4. Support from Management:
    Support from the City Manager’s Office showed an overall decline (35.5% in 2016 to 38.7% in 2022). The Strategic Management & Diversity Office support ratings were notably low, especially in 2022 at 27.8%.
  5. Recognition of Performance:
    Recognition of exceptional job performance fluctuated, peaking at 56.5% in 2020 but falling to 47.3% in 2022.
  6. Compensation and Benefits:
    Satisfaction with healthcare costs improved significantly, rising from 47.9% in 2016 to 61.6% in 2022. Perceived fairness in pay also increased from 45.5% in 2016 to a peak of 61.1% in 2020, then slightly declining to 48.1% in 2022.
  7. Communication:
    Communication between divisions improved, with a notable rise to 51.5% in 2020 but decreasing to 47.3% in 2022.
  8. Accountability:
    The perception of personal accountability among employees remained relatively stable, peaking at 58.1% in 2020 and slightly decreasing to 49.3% in 2022.
